About Reed W. Mattingly
About me
I am currently a senior at Miami University studying Media and Communication with a co-major in film studies. I enjoy hanging out with friends and making short films. The art of making movies has interested me for quite some time and I look forward to being able to do it more.
I have had multiple leadership positions, including for Marching Band and for a filmmaking club at Miami.
My Mission
My goal is to produce enjoyable and sometimes educational films and create a fun environment while doing so.
My Process
Numerous famous filmmakers have given the advice of "just go shoot something," so that is what I am looking to do. I look to go out and make a short film once every couple of weeks. I aim to learn something during the process, but also have a good time.
I have written a few screenplays and have edited a number of short films using Davinci Resolve. I often get inspiration from media I enjoy or just having fun with my friends.
My Goals
I would love to direct a fantasy movie some day. I am, to this day, still in awe of how close the cast of Lord of the Rings is 25 years after the first one came out, despite not knowing each other before shooting. I would love to build relationships like that some day.
I would also like to travel more, whether it be for film shoots or just personal. My family did a good job of allowing me to experience different parts of the country, now I would like to experience more of it on my own, if not more of the world.
